The special envoy of the Libyan leader, Ali Treiki, on Monday held talks in the Nigerian capital city Abuja with Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Alhaji Sule Lamido on ways of resolving outstanding conflicts in the continent, reported the Nigerian news agency, NAN.

"We discussed the various conflicts on the continent including Sierra Leone, Congo and Angola," the visiting envoy told reporters after closed door talks with the nigerian foreign minister.

The Libyan envoy, who is in the country to deliver a special message to President Olusegun Obasanjo, said both countries shared the same commitment to making the continent conflict-free by next year.

He said that bilateral relations and ways of nurturing the progress being made in improving the level of their cooperation were discussed.

Answering another question, the Nigerian foreign minister dismissed reports that Nigerians were being mistreated in Libya.

"I raised the issue with my friend (the envoy) and he promised to look into it," Lamido added.
