Continuing mediation among Fatah and Palestinian opposition factions
Abas Zaki, a member of the central committee of the Palestinian Legislative Council, said, "The transitional solution with the Israeli prime minister (Ehud Barak) and the final status will be very difficult," and that the talks are more difficult than negotiations with former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In statements to ArabicNews.com today, he said, "We were expecting easy negotiations regarding the decided causes and implementing the Wye River accord, yet Barak wants to say to Netanyahu, "I am adjusting an agreement in which you got Israel involved."
Zaki added that he is ready to make mediations with the Hamas movement to hold discussions with the Fatah movement and that he was the reason for the completion and success of the meeting between the People's Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the Fatah movement.
He added that he will exert efforts with the rest of the opposition factions in Damascus according to the authorization of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat so they can join in the final status negotiations.
