Mutual messages between Cairo and Khartoum

Originally published

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa sent a written message to his Sudanese counterpart, Mustafa Othman Ismael, in the continuous communications between Cairo and Khartoum to follow up on what was discussed and agreed upon during previous meetings.

Ismael answered with an oral message that was conveyed by the Egyptian change d'affairs in Khartoum, Desouki Ali El-Fayed, that included the Sudanese point of view toward the developments in the Sudanese south and border areas.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the Sudanese army, Lieutenant General Mohammed Othman Yassin, denied the Sudanese army's ownership of any kind of chemical or biological weapons and said, "The Sudanese army does not know or use such weapon."

He considered the recently-issued reports concerning the Sudanese army's use of chemical weapons as forming preparation for military acts against Sudan, but he stated that his army is ready for any coming possibilities.
