Spanish prime minister visits Israel

Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar, coming from Gaza, arrived in Israel today. He has met with Palestinian President Yasser Arafat and discussed means of activating the European role in the region.

Aznar's visit to Israel and Palestinian territories comes in the course of a Middle East tour aimed at discussing means of developing the Middle East peace process.

The Spanish prime minister's arrival in Israel coincided with the Israeli prime ministers' return from the USA and Britain.

Barak and Aznar met today, where Aznar shed light upon the reaction of the Syrian president on the Israeli initiatives to activate the peace process.
