Eight Moroccan companies in U.S. fancy food and confection show

Originally published

Eight Moroccan agribusiness companies are taking part in the 45th international "Fancy Food and Confection show" currently being held in New York.

The Moroccan firms are displaying a variety of products, including canned fish, processed meat, olive oil, spices and other fresh food products.

Hundreds of American companies specialized in food processing are present, along with one thousand firms coming from the four corners of the world.

The event is an opportunity for Moroccan companies to show the potentials of Moroccan agribusiness, which employs 100,000 persons and accounts for 22% of the country's overall processing industry. The sector posts annually around $680 million turnover and contributes about 20% of Morocco's overall industrial exports.

The potentials of the sector are not, however, fully exploited as only 10% of its gardening capacities and 50% of its dairy productions are currently processed.
