Morocco approves headquarters agreement with Jerusalem fund

Originally published

The Moroccan government approved on Thursday the headquarters agreement with "Bayt Al-Mal Al-Quds" agency (Jerusalem Fund).

The agreement, approved during a Cabinet meeting, tackles all aspects of the agency's headquarters in Casablanca, as well as advantages and immunities granted to it.

The agency enjoys the legal personality, is empowered to conclude contracts, purchase real estate and movable goods and take judiciary action.

Morocco has donated the Casablanca offices to the agency, created upon a proposal of King Hassan II, chairman of Al-Quds committee, during the 15th session of the committee held in Ifrane (Middle Atlas) in January 1995.

The agency will be raising funds from member countries of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, institutions, private enterprises, associations, Muslim and Arab communities and individuals. It was created to save the holy city of al-Quds from Israeli attempts to obliterate the Islamic and Arab identity of the city, protect the rights of Palestinians, support its Arab inhabitants and safeguard the city's civilization and religious, cultural and architectural legacy.
