Report: Ministerial reshuffle in Morocco shortly

Originally published

Morocco's L'Economiste daily reported on Thursday that a reshuffle will be operated shortly in the Moroccan government, headed by Socialist leader, Abderrahmane Youssoufi.

"The success of the present experience at the political level should not be at the expense of the management of public affairs," the daily wrote, adding that the reshuffle would only consolidate the governmental team.

Youssoufi leads a coalition government made up of 40 ministers and secretaries of state from seven left-wing and center parties, namely the Socialist Union of Popular Forces, the Istiqlal Party, the Party for Progress and Socialism, The National Rally of Independents, the Front of Democratic Forces, the National Popular Movement and the Socialist Democratic Party.

The daily called for maintaining the same political balance in managing public affairs, while reducing the ministerial portfolios.

L'Economiste also proposed the creation of a vice-prime minister post to consolidate the prime minister's department, MAP reported.
