Algeria observes celebration of independence anniversary
Algeria on Monday celebrated its 37th independence anniversary from the French occupation which lasted for 132 years and cost the Algerian people the lives of two and a half million martyrs.
The celebration held this year was characterized by the presidential election which brought Abdelaziz Bouteflika to the presidency, the truce announced by the armed wing of the banned Islamic Salvation Front and the pardon released by the Algerian president for those who were sentenced to carry out acts relating to terrorism and destruction but who were not involved in acts of killing or rapes.
The Algerian people have received with great optimism the measures taken by President Bouteflika to improve conditions in order to settle peace, security and stability and put an end to the suffering of the country by forces aiming to undermine Algeria's awakening and taking its due position on the Arab, regional and international arenas.
All indicators reveal that Algeria is proceeding on the road of national reconciliation to maintain its internal unity to withstand all awaiting challenges.
