Morocco-FAO cooperation discussed in Rome
Cooperation between Morocco and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) was discussed in Rome earlier this week by Moroccan Minister of Equipment Bouamor Taghouan and FAO executives.
The projects currently underway in Morocco with the assistance of the FAO, mainly in water resources management and the program for potable water supply to the rural world, were thoroughly examined.
The water resources management project, worth about $1 million, will be carried out over four years. It provides for the setting up and management of data bases, the maintenance and security of dams, the management of water analysis laboratories and communication and public awareness techniques.
The water supply program, to cost $2.1 million and to be completed over five years, will be carried out with the assistance of the FAO which will provide logistic assistance to seek the appropriate and lasting solutions to water supply problems in the rural world. The program also seeks water resources preservation.
Taghouan visited the FAO headquarters at the invitation of the FAO director general.
