Russia has unbiased stand on Sahara issue

Originally published

Russia's ambassador to Morocco, Kolotoucha Vassili Ivanovich, said his country has a serene and unbiased vision and is not impassioned by the Sahara issue.

The Russian diplomat made the statement in an interview with regional weekly "Acharq," issued in the Moroccan eastern city of Oujda.

He expressed hope that the Sahara issue will be settled "for the good of the inhabitants of the Sahara" and said Russia' stand on the issue is similar to that of the other members of the U.N security council.

He added that Morocco has not voiced any grudge against Russia in this respect and that contacts at the highest level between the two countries yielded "positive and satisfactory" results.

"If Morocco has a kind of diplomatic sensitiveness about the Sahara dossier, this has nothing to do with Russia. Russia is not a party to this issue, nor it is involved in it, " the Russian diplomat said.
