Cholera prevails in Baghdad districts

Originally published

It was said yesterday in Baghdad that cholera largely prevailed in some of the Iraqi capital's areas and in some other governorates.

The Iraqi health authorities decided to take urgent procedures to supplement the drinkable water by tanker vehicles to the Abu Gharib area, west of Baghdad.

Official sources in the Iraqi Ministry of Health said, "Undrinkable water caused cholera, typhoid and dysentery."

Iraq suffers from a deterioration in its filtering of drinking water due to a lack of resources and filtering equipment due to the delay of consent of the United Nations sanctions committee on the contracts Iraq ratified to improve services in this field.
