Italian minister mediates between Eritrea and Ethiopia

Italian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Rino Serri arrived on Monday in Addis Ababa to mediate in settling the military conflict between Eritrea and Ethiopia.

AFP said, according to Western diplomatic sources, that Seri will hold talks with Ethiopian governmental officials and representatives from the Organization of African Unity.

Serri visited Asmara on Sunday and will head today for Djibouti.

The spokesman for the Italian Foreign Ministry announced two days ago that Serri's tour aims at creating atmospheres that will help implement the peace plan set out by the Organization of African Unity.
