Barak: Syria enjoys a strategic importance, and we have to reach peace with it
Israeli Prime Minister elected Ehud Barak said in statements to the Israeli daily Haartez issued on Friday that "Israel has to exert a greater effort in order to reach a peace agreement with Syria, if a comprehensive end to decades of conflict in the Middle East are to be closed." He added " the agreement requires an Israeli settlement concerning the Golan heights."
Barak added "we have to make a greater effort to put an end to the conflict." He continued saying Syria has a great strategic importance and enjoys a key role in the talks which have been frozen since three years when Netanyahu assumed power.
