Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates exchange accusations

Originally published

Amid a UAE - Saudi debate around the Iranian - Saudi closeness, the Gulf Cooperation Council states' ministers held their high session today in Riyadh, which was to tackle the issue of Iranian - Saudi relations.

United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Rashid bin Abdallah al-Nuaymi has expressed his country's strong objection toward this Iranian approach with Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states.

He added that this approach doesn't serve the UAE in its dispute with Iran concerning the three islands of Abu Moussa and Greater and Lesser Tanb.

The GCC's ministers -- comprising Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, the UAE and Qatar -- discussed changes to the situation in the Gulf and the new developments in special issues concerning Iraq. The meetings will last for two days.
