Originally published

Egyptian, German and Canadian negotiations are currently underway to establish a small nuclear facility for generating electricity of 100 thousand kilowatts per hour during the first decade of the coming century.

Egyptian sources in the Ministry of Electricity told ArabicNews.com that information from the International Atomic Energy Agency confirms the increase of safety of these stations, which were designed by Canadian and German companies during the last year and that are currently in use in Canada, China and India. They added that these stations are to be used for providing electricity for the new urban communities on the coasts of the Red and Mediterranean Seas.

Egyptian governmental studies call for not relying on petroleum as a main source for energy by the year 2015 as well as for increasing natural gas consumption for different purposes.
