Germany grants Morocco dm 53 million in financial assistance

Originally published

Germany decided Wednesday to grant Morocco DM 53 million in financial assistance destined to help the North African country carry out several socioeconomic development projects in rural zones.

Germany made the grant at the end of the two-day talks held in Bonn between the two countries.

Morocco and Germany hold annual meetings to assess their technical and financial cooperation and identify partnership projects.

The new German assistance will help Morocco modernize its economy, improve vocational training and carry out several water and environment protection projects.

In 1997, Germany gave Morocco DM 69.5 million. The funds financed projects in agriculture and handicraft, struggle against desertification and pollution and helped raise the living standards of the lower social layers.
