Originally published

Ways to enhance tourism cooperation between Morocco and India topped talks held in Rabat between Moroccan Tourism Minister Hassan Sebbar and India's ambassador to Morocco, Indrajit Singh Rathore.

The Moroccan minister, who surveyed Morocco's tourism protentials, called for increasing tourism flows from India.

He hailed the interest shown recently by Indian tourism group Oberoi, which explored the Moroccan market and proposed an investment of $100 million for the construction of two luxury hotels in Casablanca and Marrakesh and contribution to the management of other Moroccan hotels.

The materialization of such projects will help intensify Indian tourist flows to Morocco, he said.

The Indian diplomat stressed the importance of cultural rapprochement as a tourism development factor. Morocco has assets to develop a business tourism industry, he said.

The Oberoi group's operations in Morocco will open wider cooperation prospects for the two countries, the Indian diplomat said.
