Originally published

In a statement to Al-Ahram Egyptian newspaper today, Algerian Minister of Communication, Culture and Government Spokesman Abdelaziz Rahabi said that terrorism has been defeated militarily and does not have a future or form a danger to the state due to the sacrifices of the Algerian people and security forces as well as the Algerian diplomatic efforts to reduce the sources of its financing from networks abroad and the Algerian society's alertness and awareness.

Concerning terrorists operations in Algeria, Rahabi said they are limited operations taking place in remote places, indicating that the potential of the terrorists to strike the cities and populated regions have diminished, if not disappeared.

He said terrorist elements can only strike at unarmed peasants in their residences in suburban regions in a vast country (2.3 million square km), referring to continuing the efforts to secure every Algerian citizen everywhere in Algeria.
