Spanish Ombudsman, Fernando Alvarez De Miranda, hailed on Wednesday the action of the Moroccan Child's Right Observatory.

The observatory is a "successful experience" in the field of promoting child's rights in Morocco, De Miranda said at a meeting with the observatory members.

He invited the Moroccan body to participate in a meeting on children's rights to be held next November 19-20 in Madrid.

The observatory was set up in 1995 with the prime objective to protect children and promote their rights. It coordinates actions in favor of Moroccan children.

The consolidation of national policies in matters of child protection, the setting up of a data base for the implementation of the international convention on child's rights are also part of the body's goals.

De Miranda, who is visiting Morocco at the invitation of the Moroccan Human Rights Advisory Council, also conferred with Moroccan interior minister, Driss Basri, on the institutions and rules governing the protection of individuals rights and freedoms in Morocco and Spain.

The two sides explored means of promoting cooperation and exchange of experience between Morocco and spain.
