France to try some 24 Islamists for 1995 explosion

Originally published

The trial of some 24 persons accused of being members of an Islamist network responsible for the wave of explosions France witnessed in 1995, which killed 12 persons and wounded another 200, will start today before the criminal court in Paris.

On top of those accused are Bu Alam Bin Saeed and Ismael Ayat Ali Balqasem, (who are present) as well as Rashieed Ramdak who was jailed in Britain and extradited to France at a French request. French law has addressed eight of the suspended persons, believed to be members on the networking and of preparing explosives, the charge of having weapons, "setting up a network aiming at terrorist acts," and "carrying out individual or collective activities targeting to violate the law and the general order by horror and terrifying people."

The said people are facing a penalty of ten years in prison.
