Israel and Tabaraya waters
The director general of the Israeli water company, Mekorot, has announced that he has proposed to the commissioner for the Israeli water department, Maeir Bin Maeir, permitting pumping of additional amounts of water from Tabaraya lake, thereby the level of waters in the lake will reach bellow the red lines, at 212 meters under sea level.
The director of the Mekorot company claimed that such steps would be taken due to the lack of water dedicated to home use.
Israel Radio said on Monday that a committee from the Israeli Ministry of Irrigation had earlier studied pumping of additional amounts from Tabaraya lake but refused such an act because it would affect the salination (salt content) in the lake.
