Iraqi measures against Barzani

Originally published

The Kuwaiti daily al-Qabas quoted the special bulletin of the Iraqi research and study center abroad as saying that the Iraqi leadership has taken a series of measures against the initiatives of the Kurdistani Democratic Party under the leadership of Mesout Barzani with the objective of attacking the positions of the said party.

The news bulletin explained that among these measures were closing down the main and secondary roads linking the Kurdish city of Arbeil to the cities of Mosoul and Karkouk, while the Iraqi first and fifth contingents had reinforced their presence in the areas close to Barzani's forces.

The bulletin stressed that these measures are preparing for the Iraqi government forces to launch a large scale aggression against the position of the Kurdistani Democratic Party in case forces of the said party back the Iraqi opposition forces in their attempt to topple the Iraqi government.
