Nimeiri back to Sudan on coming Thursday
Former Sudanese President Jafar Nimeiri is due to return to Khartoum on Thursday for a visit lasting for a week, during which he will meet with current Sudanese President Omar El-Bashir and Hassan El-Turabi, the head of Sudanese parliament.
Nimeiri is going to chair a meeting of the central committee of his party, the "Alliance of the People's Labor Force," on May 25, on the occasion of the anniversary of his assuming power in 1969.
Nimeiri has received a communique from El-Bashir in which the latter expressed his hope that the former president could soon visit Khartoum and Sudan to welcoming Nimeiri as the former president and supreme leader of the armed forces.
Meanwhile, Nimeiri confirmed that he strongly supports Sudan's unity, saying, "I will enter the elections, and if our party wins, I will accept, and if the people say 'We will appoint someone else,' I will also approve."
Then, Nimeiri also welcomed the USA playing any role in Sudan.
