Arafat to visit Syria in June

Well-informed Palestinian sources in Beirut said that Palestinian President Yasser Arafat will visit Damascus in June and meet with Syrian President Hafez al-Assad.

The Palestinian sources told the Saudi daily Okaz, published in Riyadh on Wednesday, that the visit will be taking place following a mediation made by Jordan's King Abdullah Bin Hussein during his recent visit to Syria. The sources added that the mediation was kept in secret until it succeeded.

The well-informed Palestinian sources also indicated that Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gaddafi also joined his efforts in mediating in this respect.
