Six Lebanese complaints against Israel to April Understanding committee
The April Understanding Monitoring Committee on Wednesday held a meeting at the headquarters of UNIFIL in the Lebanese border town of al-Naqoura.
The committee discussed six Lebanese complaints against Israel, including two new ones pertaining to the air raids carried out by Israeli war planes on Tuesday night against Baalbeck and Zibqin and resulted in wounding several citizens and damaging several houses.
The other four Lebanese complaints relate to Israeli bombardment of several towns in south Lebanon. The committee will also discuss three Israeli complaints in which Israel claims that the Lebanese resistance opened fire against the Israeli occupation forces from populated areas.
Meanwhile, Lebanese President Emile Lahoud discussed with the speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, the situation in south Lebanon in light of the Israeli attacks.
For his part, Lebanese Prime Minister Salim al-Hoss has asserted that his country will lodge a complaint to the April Understanding Monitoring Committee in objection to the Israeli warplanes' raids against areas located in the depths of the Lebanese territories, which resulted in casualties among Lebanese civilians.
Al-Hoss added in a statement on Wednesday that the Israeli air raids against Lebanon fall in the context of the military escalation on the threshold of the Israeli election of May 17.
