French sources: Jospin's visit to Cairo confirms strength of Egyptian - French relations

French diplomatic sources in Cairo stated today that the visit of French Prime Minister Lionel Jospin to Egypt, the first visit paid by a French prime minister to Cairo since 1992, reflects the strength and distinction of Egyptian - French relations, adding that it will have double political and economic dimensions.

These sources said the discussions of Jospin tackled issues of mutual interest, at the top of which comes the development of the peace process in Middle East, the situation in Kosovo and bilateral relations between Egypt and France, as well as methods of enhancing these relations in different areas.
