US airplanes strike Iraqi positions

US jets on Sunday bombarded Iraqi air defense positions in no-fly zone in northern Iraq. A statement the US army issued from Incirlik base in southern Turkey said that US F-15 war planes fired laser-directed JBU 12 shells against Iraqi anti-aircraft artillery positions to the northwest of al-Mousel.

The statement added that the bombardment took place between 6:30-8:00 GMT, but gave no information on losses inflicted on the Iraqi forces.
