Ecevit presents resignation to Dimerel
Turkish Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit presented his formal resignation to Turkish President Soliman Demirel after the general elections in which the Democratic Left Party chaired by Ecevit will continue to hold the premiership temporarily.
Ecevit is expected to be authorized to form new government after the declaration of the final results of elections in which the rightist Nationalist Movement Party is heading toward winning 100 seats in the parliament after failing to win even one seat in previous elections. In return, the Islamic Virtue Party lost a large amount of support.
