300,000 participants for mobile phone services in Egypt

The total participants in the mobile phone services in Egypt increased to nearly 300,000 -- 210,000 for Mobinil net and 90,000 for Click Net (Misr Phone).

A source in the Egyptian Ministry of Transportation said it is expected that the total participants will increase to nearly 2 million in the year 2001, as Egypt currently occupies the third position as the biggest market for mobile phones in Middle East.

Saudi Arabia occupies the first position with participants numbering 532,000 then the United Arab Emirates with 585,000, while Kuwait has nearly 181,000 participants, Bahrain has 96,000 and Qatar has 60,000.
