Nelson Mandela arrives in Oman
President of the Republic of South African Nelson Mandela arrived on Tuesday in Oman on a three-day official visit during which he will meet with Sultan Qaboos Bin Saeed of Oman.
Talks will deal with supporting joint cooperation relations, especially in various economic areas. On top of issues that are expected to be debated between the two sides are naval transport projects.
This is one of the last official visits to be paid by Mandela (80), who will leave his post in June following general elections in the country.
The Foreign Ministry in South Africa on Tuesday announced that Mandela's talks in Oman will center on encouraging investments, adding that discussions will also deal with bilateral relations, including cooperation within the context of the league of the countries which overlook the Indian Ocean for regional cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement.
In December 1998, Mandela attended the recent summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council as a guest of honor.
