El-Bashir declares unilateral cease fire in south Sudan
Sudanese President Omar El-Bashir announced yesterday a unilateral cease fire in south Sudan starting from April 15, the ending date for the previous cease fire.
In an address delivered before the national council (parliament), El-Bashir said, "In order to confirm our stable support for peace, we declare a comprehensive cease fire in all states in south Sudan."
He added that this decision aims at protecting people, citizens' property and employees of humanitarian and international organizations.
The Sudanese president urged the Sudanese People's Liberation Army to respond with the approval of a comprehensive cease fire.
