Libya calls for allowing Libyan plane from Jeddah to pass through Egyptian airspace

Originally published

The Egyptian Civil Aviation Organization received a request from Libyan authorities to allow the passage of a Libyan airplane carrying Libyan pilgrims from Jeddah to Tripoli through Cairo International Airport tomorrow.

Egyptian official sources in the organization said yesterday that the decision could be taken after the decision is issued by the United Nations to officially suspend the sanctions against Libya and after the reply of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

Manager of the Libyan airlines in Cairo, Abd El-Latif Ali, said the office of the Libyan airline is ready to run air trips between Cairo and Tripoli, after the sanctions are lifted from his country.

The sanctions have been officially suspended by the United Nations.

Meanwhile, Middle East News Agency said that Italian Foreign Minister Lamberto Dini is arriving today in Tripoli by air on what is the first official visit paid by a foreign minister to Libya by air without permission or breaking to the air embargo.
