Islamic organization praises European stance on Jerusalem
The Organization of Islamic Conference "OIC" has praised the EU's stance on the city of Al Quds (Jerusalem) and on the Palestinians' right to self-rule and to establish their independent state.
In a message to German foreign minister, Joschka Fischer, whose country is currently holding the EU rotating chairmanship, OIC secretary general, Azeddine Laraki, expressed thanks and gratefulness for the European countries' stance for a fair and just peace in the Middle East.
The secretary general of the Jeddah-based organization said the European Union has adopted positions that are conform to UN pertinent resolutions and to international agreements and conventions that consider Al Quds as an occupied city and declare as nil and illegal Israeli actions in the city.
The Organization also calls the international community to shoulder its responsibilities to make Israel end its colonization and judaization actions in the city of Al Quds.
In a resolution adopted by the recent Berlin summit, the European Union said it looks forward to the early fulfillment of this right (to statehood).
