Jordan imports potable water

Originally published

The Jordanian government has permitted imports of mineral water in compliance of an importation license issued by the Jordanian Ministry of Industry and Trade.

In its decision the Jordanian government said the license comes in line with economic openness and the inclination towards abrogating non-customs restrictions on the movement of commodity flows, together with ensuring enough protection for local production.

Jordan had imported large amounts of mineral water as a result of the water crisis which hit Amman last summer. The amounts of imported water included some 400,000 bottles of mineral water from Beqqin spring, near Damascus, Syria.
