Moroccan-Canadian talks on environment protection

Originally published

Mayor of Montreal, Pierre Bourque, held a series of talks with Moroccan officials over cooperation in environment protection, sanitation and local administration.

The mayor, who started earlier this week a working visit to Morocco, held separate meetings with minister of the interior, Driss Basri, and secretaries of state for environment and housing, Ahmed Laraki and Mohamed Mbarki.

Moroccan officials said they want to benefit from the Canadian city's leading experience in matters of urban transport, environment preservation, town planning and processing of waste water and household waste.

The Canadian official expressed his country's readiness to supply expertise, technologies and funds to Morocco.

Montreal is the eighth city in the world in terms of life quality and is considered a leading center in matters of sustained environment protection.
