ISESCO invites U.S. magazine to apologize to Muslims
The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO/based in Rabat) has invited U.S. magazine "The Atlantic Monthly" to apologize to all Muslims for the harm caused by a libelous story.
ISESCO says in a statement that its Director General, Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, has sent a letter to the editor-in-chief of the Washington-based magazine inviting him to publish an apology to all Muslims around the world for the harms caused to Islam when it published in its issue of January an article titled "What is the Koran?"
In his letter, Altwaijri accused the monthly of "deliberate distortion of established religious and historical facts" and of "blasphemous attitude towards the faith and belief of all Muslims in the holy Koran, in addition to enormous offense taken by the Muslim world."
The ISESCO director general stressed that by publishing the apology, the paper editors would pay justice to one billion and three hundred million Muslims around the world.
