Morocco rejects us report on human rights in Morocco as not conform to reality
Many parts of the US state department's report on the human rights situation in Morocco do not reflect reality, especially chapters related to justice, said Moroccan justice minister, Omar Azziman.
The Moroccan official told Arab daily "Asharq Al-Awsat" the report makes judgments that do not reflect reality and might even cause the indignation of those who know justice in Morocco.
Although he conceded that the best service that our friends can do us is to remain firm, he asserted that firmness should be coupled with honesty, objectivity, understanding and a deep knowledge of reality.
Azziman also accused the report drafters of failing to show any will of understanding, in particular regarding the accusations expressed against the judiciary system, such as widespread corruption and pressures exerted on courts.
The minister announced that his department will draft a memorandum to note all the errors and false data as well as those resulting from a mis-evaluation or from preconceived ideas that disregard the ongoing developments.
