A proposal to ban arms sale to Eritrea, Ethiopia
The British Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said the European Union has adopted a British proposal to ban the exportation of weapons to Ethiopia and Eritrea due to the continued military struggle between the two sides in the African Horn.
In an official statement, the British Foreign Ministry said that Britain had made this proposal in response to UN Security Council resolution 1227, which urges all world countries to halt all arms sales and ammunition to both Ethiopia and Eritrea because they will use them in the war between them.
The spokesman stated that the European ban on weapons exports to the two countries came into actual implementation as of March 15.
