Arab foreign ministers call Security Council to implement resolutions on Jerusalem
The Arab foreign ministers called the UN Security Council on Thursday to adopt the necessary measures to guarantee Israel's compliance with resolutions related to the holy city of Jerusalem as stipulated in the U.N. charter.
This came in a statement released by the Arab League Ministerial council's session convening in Cairo. The Arab ministers hailed the European Union decision not to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and praised the firm positions adopted by the Organization of the Islamic Confernce (OIC), the Organization of African Unity (OAU), the Non-Aligned Movement and the Vatican in this regard.
The Arab League statement condemned the Israeli actions in Jerusalem, terming them as violations of international law and threatening peace and stability in the region.
