Sudanese parties call for delaying states' elections
A dispute erupted between Sudanese parties recorded according to the law of political multiplicity because of the date of the elections for the state parliaments, that the public elections department called to be held in April.
The ruling National Conference supported the convening of elections on their appointed date, but the other parties which have recently been legalized called for delaying the elections of the regional legislative councils as they continue their contacts with their bases in provinces and prepare for a new stage.
Nation's Party founder El-Nour Hadin said the date of the elections is not adequate for his party and that it can only benefit the National Conference, which by refusing a delay would create suspicions about the government's seriousness.
The assistant secretary general of the Democratic Unionist Party, Amin El-Bieli, said his party has directed a call to form committees in Sudan's governorates and states to continue the building of the party. He referred to the necessity of allowing enough time to prepare for elections.
