Mubarak: Egypt not concerned with the nominee of Israeli premier

Originally published

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said that Egypt is not concerned with who will occupy the post of Israeli prime minister, saying that it is an internal issue and Egypt does not intervene in other countries' internal affairs and that Egypt's concern is peace and stability in the region.

This comes amid speculation as to the results of the coming Israeli elections and how the results will effect Israel's position on resuming peace talks related to several Mideast peace issues.

President Mubarak told El-Gomhuria newspaper yesterday that his talks with Jordan's King Abdullah were fruitful and positive, pointing out that King Abdallah is capable of protecting security, stability and development as well as enhancing the peace process, for which Egypt is also working.

The Egyptian president met with the Jordanian monarch on Tuesday where they inaugurated the power grid linking Cairo to Jordan at a cost of $229 million, financed by the Arab Development Fund, which allocated $149 million for Egypt and $80 million for Jordan.
