Kuwaiti crown prince confers with US general

Kuwaiti Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Saad al-Abdullah al-Sabah met on Tuesday in Kuwait with the commander-in-chief of the US Central Command, Gen. Anthony Zinni. Talks dealt with bilateral relations and means of continuously improving them in the military field, as well as issues of mutual concern.

Zinni stated that the United States does not have any plan to expand military operations against Iraq. In his declarations during his visit to the US forces in northern Kuwait, Zinni said the US strikes against Iraq could be ended if Iraq would stop threatening the alliance jets.

He added that all the air attacks were for self-defense and that the no-fly zones in northern and southern Iraq come in implementation of United Nations resolutions for protecting the Iraqi people in these areas from persecution by the Iraqi government.
