Administrative board of multi-cultural foundation holds meeting in Seville

Originally published

The Foundation of Three Cultures that was set up at the initiative of Morocco held the first session of its administrative board here recently.

The foundation, located in the Moroccan pavilion built for the Universal Exposition of Seville in 1992, is meant to back any initiative likely to contribute to a better understanding between Morocco and Spain, to preserve the Andalucian heritage and to promote an ambitious and innovative dialogue between the three revealed religions that constitute the essence of Mediterranean identity.

Adviser to King Hassan II for economic and financial affairs, Andre Azoulay, who took part in the session of the administrative board said this new institution will promote inter-cultural dialogue and partnership in the frame of mutual respect and can give a new momentum to a "New Andalucia" whose major purpose would be the promotion of mutual understanding and regional partnership, taking into account the cultural and spiritual characteristics of all.

Azoulay expressed hope that the foundation will contribute to erasing the negative references and stereotypes that still persist in the perception of Moroccan reality in Spain.

President of the Andalucia autonomous government, Manuel Chaves, on his part, pledged to extend all possible assistance to the Foundation so that it becomes a forum for research and innovation at the cultural and spiritual levels and an efficient implement to take up the economic and social challenges facing the region.
