Three million dollars earmarked for restoring charity centers
A total of $3 million (28.6 million dh) will be earmarked to restore 130 charity centers in Morocco, a committee supervising an anti-poverty fund-raising campaign announced.
The committee, chaired by Crown Prince Sidi Mohammed, said it will supervise the refurbishment of 98 centers at a total cost of $1.4 million while private entrepreneurs will renovate 32 others at a cost of $1.5 million.
About $9 millions were raised in the week-long national solidarity week held in Morocco last October for the struggle against poverty.
The week featured several artistic, cultural and musical fund-raising shows.
Among the Moroccan 28 million-strong population, there are nearly 3 million poor persons.
