Originally published

A Saudi diplomatic source in Cairo stated that Iranian President Mohammed Khatami will visit Saudi Arabia at the end of the current month to hold official talks as well as perform the Haj pilgrimage.

He said there will be a full program arranged for Khatami, who will be the first Iranian president to visit Saudi Arabia since the Islamic revolution.

The source said Khatami will meet with Saudi Arabia's King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz as well as the Saudi prime minister and defense minister.

The source added that the Iranian - Saudi talks will crown the openness in relations between the two countries, which started since Khatami was elected as president.

The source also said that Khatami's talks will include the reduction in petroleum prices in the international markets and Saudi Arabia's contribution to strengthening Iran's relations with Arab states from one side and with the United States from another.
