Sudan agrees with rebels on cease fire
The Sudanese minister of state in the national development institution in Southern Sudan, Makwaj Tang Youk, who is also the spokesman for the United Democratic Salvation Front, said on Monday that the front signed on Sunday an agreement with southern rebels providing for a cease fire in all parts of southern Sudan, to be valid as of April.
Youk added the agreement will be enacted as of April in coincidence with the start of negotiations in Nairobi between the government and the rebels, as the two sides agreed to be flexible to ensure the success of the negotiations.
Youk added that the two sides agreed to facilitate the return of refugees displaced by the fighting to their homes and to guarantee the free movement of the people of the south between areas controlled by the rebels and those under the control of the government.
