King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia has asserted the need to pressure Israel in order to implement UN resolutions relevant to the occupied Arab territories, especially resolution 425, which provides for Israel's unconditional withdrawal from south Lebanon.

In a statement read following the meeting of the Saudi Cabinet on Monday in Riyadh, Saudi Information Minister Fuad Abdul Salam al-Farisi said that during its meeting which was convened by King Fahd, the Cabinet reviewed the latest developments in the region, especially the repeated and continued Israeli aggressions against south Lebanon, which resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians, children, women and old people,as well as Israel's continued threats of striking Lebanon, especially the western Bekaa and the occupied part of south Lebanon.

The Saudi Cabinet expressed deep sorrow over the death of the late Bahraini Emir, Sheikh Issa Bin Salman al-Khaleifa, and asserted Saudi Arabia's stand in backing Bahrain "under all conditions, with best hopes for the success of the new Bahraini Emir in leading his country."

The statement released by the Cabinet on this occasion noted that King Fahd briefed the Cabinet on the content of the two messages he received from the Iranian President Muhammad Khatami and from the President of Mauritania Mu'aweyah Ould Sayed Ahmad al-Tae'.
