Originally published

The Palestinian Legislative Council elected Ahmed Qrei yesterday evening as the councl's head for the coming session, Ibrahiem Musa Abu Al-Naja as the first deputy, Ghazi Hanania as second deputy.

Meanwhile, the secretary of Fatah movement in the West Bank, the deputy of Ramallah, Marwan Hussein Bargouthi said they have agreed on keeping the previous officials in their old places.

He questioned increased discussions in the Palestinian street about elections at the present time, especially as the council's presidency is committed to the end of the transitional stage on May 4, according to Oslo agreement.

The council's members say the term of legislative council's presidency is connected with declaring the state by May 4, where, if it happens, the work of the council will be ended, and new parliamentary elections will begin.
