US: All Wye aid on track
The United States denied Israeli press reports that aid to Israel earmarked as part of the Wye River accord is not moving forward. "The President of the United States included in the Administration's FY 2000 budget submission to Congress a supplemental request for assistance to Israel and the Palestinians to support the costs associated with the Wye Memorandum. The request is currently before the Congress," Director of the State Department Press Office M. Lee McLenny said yesterday.
"It's our expectation that the Wye Memorandum will be implemented and that the funds will be approved by the Congress," McLenny said.
