Moroccan researcher develops process to improve quality of bank notes
A Moroccan researcher working in a French chemistry school has developed a new process to improve the quality of bank notes and increase their resistance, reports Moroccan economic daily "La Vie Economique."
According to the paper, the process gives more resistance to bank notes and doubles their duration.
The process consists in covering the surface of the bank note with a very thin film that protects it against humidity and hand acidity. The searcher, who had obtained last year's Hassan II prize for best invention, has been approached by Morocco's central bank "Bank Al-Maghrib" which prints annually 320 million of bank notes.
The searcher explained that this process can be used in other fields, such as the addition of anti-microbe agents in tools used in medical surgery and the conservation of ancient documents.
He added that the new process is very rapid and does not consume much energy.
